...how people behave at the Atrium, one of the campus dining centers. In particular, they wonder how people behave when eating alone versus eating with friends.
This group addressed the subject of eating alone. They organized their findings by having each individual talk about their own specific findings. They incorporated the surveys and observations they found very well. Their sentences seemed to flow very well and make sense without using fragments or run-ons. They seemed to run out of things to say for some slides. They had some entertaining quotes that were well used for the audience they were presenting to.
Having quotes on some of the slides instead of all pictures was a nice change up. The beginning of the presentation was easy to follow with the ending of it seeming to fall apart somewhat, with long pauses and running oout of words. This group defiently was the most entertaining. They did base their information on their statistics, interviews, and observations. Pictures were on good quality. Overall this presentation was presented nicely.
This groups title was Stalker of the Atrium. Their thesis was if people who ate alone were more independent. Their presentation was very organized and caught my attention. They built up their thesis by talking about their observations and how they saw people who looked awkward when they ate alone. Another thing they noticed were people of the same body time or race eating together. One of the group members talked about their interview and said that the friend they interviewed has to eat alone before class sometimes and he said he doesn't feel awkward or low self esteem at all. They included lots of statistics and great pictures. Everyone did a good job presenting.
This group focused on people that eat alone in the atrium. The pictures in this presentation went along with the dialogue. They had some good statistics about who eats alone. I thought that the statistics about anxiety and depression was very interesting and went well with the presentation. The only problem i noticed with this group is that they were very quiet when talking.
Your group was up front and presented its thesis early in the discussion. I found that your humor was refreshing and that you had put a good deal of thought into designing your project and powerpoint.
I was not real crazy about viewing the slides that used black and red as a color backdrop. This made reading difficult, but given your project's theme, I understand why you chose these colors. Your pictures were in focus and of a good quality (especially the one that captured a view that looked down into the atrium). It was also interesting to see that your group chose to incorporate interview quotes into the powerpoint. This was unique and seemed to work well with your project.
The slide timing during the presentation was a bit off, but your points came across clear. One member introduced a large amount of material and had to talk rather fast to get through it in the allotted time period. This was a bit distracting but did not effect the over-all quality of your work. Group members were easily heard and understood.
The only suggestion that I have, involves dividing information up in a manner that allows all group members to speak at a slower pace.
This group had good information but had a little problem delivering their information. They had some long breaks between people speaking and they did not seem to be ready to present their information. Other than being a little unorganized i thought this group did well.
I think this group had the most entertaining presentation of the week. They went out of the normal of what everyone expected for these presentations and added a lot of comedy in with it. They did, however, have long pauses in their speech where they did not know what information to fill in the pauses. Their thesis was clear in the fact that people who ate alone are more dependent and they are not always depressed. I also liked how they put a name to the theme of their presentation and called it Stalker at the Atrium or something alone those lines. I agree with the comment two before mine that it was indeed distracting that one member had so much information to give out in their allotted time, that it should have been split up more evenly.
They presented something that many if not all of us go through everyday, to eat alone or not to. The information about people who eat alone was very interesting, and they presented it very well. I could understand it all, the only problem was the timing was a little off. The talking wasn't very even, but they got the information across.
Eating at the atrium alone was the topic of this presentation. It was easy to follow because all of the information was well related to the presentation while making transitions that were easy to follow. The presentation told us about how people feel about eating by themselves. Some of the things that they talked about was that most people that eat by themselves are usually in a hurry and get something quick to eat while people that go to the atrium to eat with a group of people seem to have more time to eat and they spend most of the time talking to one another. It seemed like this group spent a lot of time researching and coming up with facts about the people eating at the atrium. some of the facts that i remember from the presentation are that 56% of the people that the group interviewed said that they feel awkward eating alone and 13% feel like they have depression or anxiety. I think this presentation deserves at least a B because the group seemed to have followed most of the grading criteria and it was a well researched presentation.
This group wanted to see why and who ate alone at the Atrium. The observation, surveys, and interviews fit very well in their slides. Some parts in the middle of their presentation were a little awkward, but near the end they cleared it up and it sounded good. Some members stuttered which took away from presenting the good information they had to share with the class. The Pecha Kucha format didn't fit very well, they could have taken more time with their pictures because some were blurry. One thing that was used a lot and worked very well for this group was the use of their quotes. It was different and kept you interested. The slides weren't as polished as they should have been but their topic was unique which is what i really liked.
This group did there presentation over at the Atrium and who ate alone and who didn't. They all observed and interviews someone and they had a survey. Chandler was sort of quiet and i couln't understand him that well. The groups powerpoint had quotes that were funny and made the presentation enjoyable. there slides did not change automatically so i don't know if they went the entire 20 seconds. Q made sure the presentation stayed interesting and all the slides had picures or texts on them. some of the pictures were a little blurry though. The group also made an interesting title for there presentation.
This presentation was fun and easy to follow. The title of the presentation started the mood of well. Every member did an observation and an interview. I think that Q made this presentation funny with the different texts and pictures. I'm not sure if they had the slides on a 20 second automatic change. Overall I thought this was a very good presentation.
This group focused on where people tend to eat in the atrium. Lots of their facts came from their survey , which said that more people feel awkward eating by themselves. The beginning of the presentation was good since it included pieces of humor. Towards the end, the speaking was quiet and the presentation seemed to slow down. Overall, the presentation was well put together with the relation of their speaking and slides.
This group did the Atrium and I did not know exactly what was the thesis for their project because I was a little distracted by the first picture they had on their slide. I loved their project though I thought it was really funny. The words they used were not the best for what the presentation was calling for but overall it was ok. The presentation was not the best flowing thing. It could have flowed a little better. The slides sometimes did not go with what they were talking about but that was okay because I think that the audience understood what they were trying to say though. I do not think that they followed the Pecha Kucha because their slides were not on the 20 second timer. The humor helped their presentation.
This group presented on the topic of the social habits of students at the atrium. They spoke of people of the same races eating together. They also spoke of age and personality type influencing whether you were social in the atrium. The thesis could have been narrowed down a bit, but nonetheless was interesting. Their slides could have gone along with their words a little more, but their information was good. Their presentation followed format. When they messed up their humor helped lighten the mood of the room too, which in my eyes is a good thing. They incorporated statistics, quotes, and observations in their power point as well. Well done.
This group tried to figure out the psychological factors in students' eating habits in Atrium. They focused on people who were used to eating alone, interviewed a few of them. The topic was interesting, and the group made the presentation fun and easy to follow. I think Chandler might be little nervous as I did, may be it would be better if his voice was a little higher. :)
This group really stood out to me. Their topic was unique and different from everyone who focused on the library. The title of their presentation really caught your attention and sort of made me chuckle. Their thesis was that eating by yourself is not a bad thing. Much of their presentation revolved around what they observed. They compared the groups who ate together and those who ate alone. The eye contact was there and it was better than most. They could have spoke up a bit more. The power point was kind of boring and didn't really add anything to the presentation. I did like the funny quotes at the end. The survey statistics did help with the power point.
The focus of the presentation was the difference in mannerisms of those who eat alone compared to those who eat in groups. Their observations probably were what most validated the argument. The presentation wasn't hard to follow, but at times seemed a tad all over the place. They knew how to correlate well with each other and did a good job transitioning. I think this was due to the fact that they all said similar things. The stats they came to helped to aid the argument and what they had observed. Their quotes and pictures made the presentation enjoyable.
Thesis- observing people that eat alone at the atrium feel more awkward and tend to sit by themselves. Some people don't feel awkward because they have a limited time to get to class. They had a well put together presentation. They found out that people who eat alone eat faster and are less outgoing. They also learned that people that eat alone tend to text and do homework to occupy their time so that they don't feel so awkward. They filled the whole time with each slide. They had some good quotes from the people that they interviewed which caught my attention.
