...the most popular area at Bracken Library for undergraduates is the first floor. They believe this is due to the easy access, since the entrances are at this level, and also because there are plenty of computers on this floor.
This group talked about which floor was most used at the library, and who does what at the library. The powerpoint was easy to follow but they could have had a little more text. Jake siad that he didn't know much about the other floors in the library. He should have researched it a little more. Everyone in the group pronounced the words correctly btu some of the group members talked way too fast and stuttered. The group could have had more creative photos and there was not very many texts on teh slides which was okay but maybe if they would have done more text they could have had more things to say instead of having many long pauses.
1. The most popular area of the library-aka the first floor. It validated their thesis because their survey said that most people study on the first floor. 2. Their organization was good and easy to follow. 3. They built up their argument by talking about how the printer, library map, refreshments, and more are all located on the first floor. 4. Everyone in the group talked loud enough to hear but I noticed that they all seemed to not have enough to say per slide and just paused at points. 5. They used the Pecha Kucha format by having 20 slides at 20 seconds each. 6. They added statistics in along with a bar graph. It seemed like the words on the slides were spelled correctly. I thought they had a good use of photos and they went along with what they were talking about.
This group talked about finding your way around the library. They seemed to be very organized although it seems their slides were not timed well with their statements. The followed their thesis very well by giving great pictures to guide you around the library as well as giving resources such as directories and cardcats. The speakers were plenty loud enough and the slides seemed to flow well without jumping around. The twenty second timeline was tough to follow. It seems it would be easier to just click after around twenty seconds.
The group talked about the library. But from observing they saw and through their interviews they told us statistics that were about why people go to the library and what floor is most popular. The power point did not have any text except for the first and last slide. I would have liked to see a few more words just so I could follow along with what the group was saying. Some of them spoke a little too fast but i have that problem too when I am nervous. One of the group members said they did not know about the other floors and printing... if the group would have asked a librarian which floors go to which printers they would have known and i am pretty sure they is a handout that says so too. But overall I feel they had a good project and the statistics were included into the project at the right times. I think that the library is not that exciting so they made it more exciting.
This group seemed enthusiastic about their presentation, but was unsure how to go about it. I understand they were the first group, so they deserve a little slack. I feel their study could have been more in-depth, but I was glad to see they included some statistics at the end. The only real complaint I have is that the thesis was only presented at the beginning of the presentation, and not carried throughout.
This group talked about the different floors on the library. Overall I thought that the project was easy to follow, but there could have been a little bit of more text on some of the slides. For syntax and diction this group pronounced everything correctly, but some of the group members talked a little too fast. The format and design could have been a little more creative with the photos (most were just taken of the BSU website). Lots of the group members said they didn't know something about different parts of the library until they did the research.
Yes, we could have made our presentation better by speaking slower, haveing more text on our slides to hold attention and restating out thesis. Thank you for the suggestions and pointing out our flaws and strong points. And thank you Val for cutting us some slack since we were the first group to go and were nervous!
I commend this group for volunteering to present their findings first. Often, this position sets the standard for what other classmates will deem good or not so good. At the same time, it also allows other groups to evaluate their work in advance and understand where they might need to make improvements.
As the presentation started, I found myself wondering if a clear statement of the thesis had been made, or if I had become distracted and simply missed it. It did quickly become apparent though, that your group found that the first level of Bracken Library is the most popular floor among students. This seems to be a reasonable finding. I often make short visits to the first floor of the library because almost everything I need, is there.
The presentation was organized and easy to follow. Powerpoint slide timing did seem to be off a little (this was only a minor distraction), but your main points did come through. Speakers spoke clearly and seemed to stay focused on what they wanted to say. I don't recall anyone having difficulty with pronunciation, but occassionaly it was hard to hear what the speaker was saying. I think that this was due in part, to audience members talking during the presentation.
I liked how you designed your powerpoint, though some pictures were out of focus. This could have been improved on, but I also understand that it is unlikely that anyone in the class has had professional photography experience. I did not see any misspelled words or inappropriate slide labels.
Your research seemed to clearly address your question and the number of responses you received and used was more than adequate. I was most impressed with your graph (even though type size was occassionally hard to read) and the discussion about your survey.
This group was easy to follow but the information i don't think really followed the thesis that they stated. other than that though they spoke well and had good information and toked turns really well on who was speaking.
I agree with at least one thing in every comment that was said about our group. I do know that our presentation was not the easiest one to follow. I myself was still confused as to what the purpose of the project was and on how to present our information. I am not making excuses for my group but I know that these two reasons are some of the reasons why our group suffered a little bit. I think the best part of our slide show was our graph but I did not know the font was hard to read until it was up on the projector. Now that the project is done I will say it wasn't my favorite project but it wasn't the worst either. I thank all of your for your suggestions and input on our presentation.
This group talked primarily about which floor was used most by students. The group did a very good job. They presented very well and had very good visuals. The information they had was very good, the statistics were even better. Some of the group members got quite for a little bit, but they picked it back up. They did very good.
This group was in the same position like our group, as we were the first two groups to go out of everyone. What we did wrong everyone could fix and improve their own slides before they presented two days later. This group was the very first to go, which is very tough to do so i give them props.
They presented the question of what floor in Bracken is used the most by students. The information they presented was related to the topic they were discussing. It was easy to follow because they used all pictures, it made sense because they explained in detail each picture they presented. They built an argument by using their survey. The group enunciated well, the transition that they used was at some spots awkward as time was left at the end. They were not always able to fill in the full 20 seconds.
I noticed they tried to connect to use by using pictures, all or most of us are able to connect with visual which was a good idea on their part. Quotes were not really a part of their presentation, but statistics were something this group used to strengthen their presentation. For going first, this group did well.
This group did a good job gathering information and relating it to their thesis. This group focused on which floors students usually go to study at. Their presentation seemed to flow very well and had lots of statistics to back up their opinions. Also it was interesting to see the stats that another group came up with, in terms of Bracken Library.
This group did a really good job of explaining on how the library is mostly used by undergrads. They explained how it is easy to find books by computer and by code number. I think they were really organized. They talked about 75% of students use card cart. I really don't think they had an argument but other than that I thought it was very informational.
This group explained how helpful the library can be. They argued that the library is an easier enviroment to study in than anywhere else. They spoke loud and clear and it was very easy to follow. The one thing i noticed was that the slide transitions did not go well with the dialogue and there were some awkward pauses. They did not use any quotes but they did provide some good statistics on who uses the library.
The group suggested that the first floor of Bracken library is the most popular to undergraduate students. Their observation seemed logical and they backed it up well in the interviews and surveys. The showed reasons why the first floor was the most popular. They presented in the correct format and their words matched with the slides well. The only problem I saw was the words on the bar graph we too small to read.
This group stated their observations and their interview results right off the bat. They also explained how a librarian can help you by actually having a librarian help them. The computers in the library are used mostly for homework or Facebook based on their data. They Bookmark Cafe is another attraction of the library.
This group observed that some people sit at tables doing homework or helping each other out. The library is a good place for study sessions. According to this group's survey, the library is an easier place to study. I liked it how in this group each person stated their personal interview results. They also used a graph to display the results of 62 people. I do not believe they used any quotes in their presentation, though.
The thesis for this presentation was the different floors of the library, especially the 1st floor which they deemed most popular. Their surveys made this point the most valid, showing that the 1st was definitely the floor that most people frequent. They had good organization and flow which made the presentation sensible and easy to follow. They all seemed to know what to talk about and what to focus on separately and as a group. Not only did their surveys and interviews aid them in their presenation and argument, but all the research and detail of Bracken really helped to validate what they had to say. Also, all members did a good job of vocalizing their parts. The presentation seemed fine to me as it flowed and correlated with all they were saying. The stats were good as were the photos they incorporated.
This group focused on how the library is used, mainly the first floor. Their surveys showed that the first floor was the most popular. I think the presentation went well, it seemed to flow well, and did a very good job of researching about the library. I don't remember them using any quotes in the presentation, but they did show some statistics to reinforce their point. Overall I think they did a very good job on researching as well as presenting.
This group argued that the first floor is used by a majority of undergraduate because of the ease of access and more computers to use. They were a very organized by the pictures that they showed. Their surveys showed that people come to the library to use the books more than the internet. People also study for exams at the library because it is easier at the library than at home. They used their time wisely with the timer and the amount of time that they talked. I thought that they did very well with their presentation.
