Their thesis was why do people ride the bus. Their organization seemed to flow well and it made sense to me. Each girl talked about their own observations on the bus which made it easy to follow. They spoke loudly enough to where it wasn't hard to hear. They had good pictures and good information on slides, although it was somewhat hard to read and listen at the same time. Thats probably just me though. They answered their own hypotheses about why people ride the bus. Their research seemed extensive and they had great survey results.
Organization was a major strong point in this group. I also feel that they did great overall with pronuctiation of words, how loud their voices were, and having things spelled correctly on the slides. Some downfalls were that they were not on target with some of the slides, while other slides did contain too much information, causing me to get caught up on trying to read everything on the slide then missing some of the things the speaker said. The pictures were very good, you could see clearly what they were trying to show you and the slides contain valid information backed up by interviews, observations, and their survey.
Even though I do not recall hearing a clear thesis statement (early in the presentation), it became apparent that your group sought to investigate why Ball State students like to ride the shuttle bus. I appreciate the fact that you stated that your research findings caused you to dismiss an initial assumption (students ride the bus because they are lazy) and that, your research revealed that students ride the bus for a number of reasons.
During the presentation, eye contact with the audience was good and speakers spoke at a volume that could be heard. I don't recall hearing any difficulty with enunciation, and vocabulary choice seemed to be appropriate. The only thing that I found questionable, was how the Pecha Kucha format was followed.
I could be misguided, but I thought that the format was designed to eliminate some of mass amounts of information that usual powerpoints contain. Though interesting to me, because I do not ride the shuttle bus, there seemed to be an excess of written information to read.
Powerpoint slides could have been improved upon if some of your pictures would have been lighter and more in focus. I understand that this may be due in part to the weather that prevailed. I too, took project pictures on a day that it was raining. I especially liked your picture of the back of the bus (which was heading south down McKinely Avenue). This was a great picture and it made me feel as if I were looking at it pass in front of me.
The presentation had a lot of written information on the slides, which is good if the audience has a hard time hearing the presenters. I think if the information was presented on the slide then it shouldn't have been read out loud. Otherwise the presentation was very informative, with good statistics and observations. The thesis seemed to be present throughout the PowerPoint. The only real weak point was the multiple pauses.
I thought that this group had some problems using the information that they had. They spoke very well with just a couple problems when whose turn it was to speak.
I thought this group's presentation was a good one. I could follow along on what they were saying very easily. A downfall was that their spoken information was not exactly on with the slides that we up at the time but it happened to many other groups as well. They had good statistics and seemed to really know all the information they presented. I liked how this group presented their thesis right off the bat. That being presented really helped the audience follow along, I thought. I could hear each speaker loud and clear and they pronounced their words very clearly.
I believe they were very well prepared. On top of that they presented their information very well. The main problem I saw was that their timing was a little off but it still flowed very well. I really like how they talked about what individuals do on the bus. Very good information and presentation.
This group was trying to figure out why people rode the shuttle. They used interviews and surveys that were related to their thesis which made most of it easy to follow. Just like the group covering the Atrium, this group's topic was unique making me more impressed by what they covered. The things that they discussed flowed well and for the most part made sense. They kind of repeated themselves a little.
They built on their thesis by relying heavily on their surveys, which worked fine. All the members spoke clearly which made it easy to hear. The transition worked well except for a couple awkward pauses. This group used Pecha Kucha the correct way. Their pictures were kind of blurry and that made it hard to follow. They connected by bringing things up that we all do on the bus, which i thought was interesting. Quotes were something not used much in this group's presentation but statistics were. The pictures could have been better but everything was spelled correctly and they go their point across. Which is what really matters.
The group talked about why students rode the bus/ shuttle. They tried to prove why students rode the bus by using information from their surveys that they took and the interviews they did. In my opinion the information the collected was but into their presentation very well. Some of the pictures did not go with what they were talking about though. I think that they did a great job with getting their survey out to the public. everyone talked in vocabulary that was acceptable for the project. Their sentence structure was great no mistakes were made that i could tell of. Their presentation flowed well. Not very many awkward pauses. On some of their slides they has way too much words that I could not read in the 20 seconds. But for the most they followed the structure of the Pecha Kucha.
This group did their presentation over the shuttles at Ball State. The thesis was broad, which made their statistics scattered around. The thesis seemed to be why people ride the shuttle. It was interesting however, to see how many people thank the drivers and why some people use certain shuttles over others. The speaking was fine but there were only a couple of slow parts in the presentation.
I liked the fact that this group had a lot of statistics and they presented their information clearly. I also liked that their thesis was easy to recognize. The thing I would change about their presentation would be either reading the information or putting it on the power point, not both.
This group talked about why people ride the shuttle. In the beginning they also introduced different loops, which was kind of a lead of the presentation. Then they listed reasons people ride the shuttle, and what they occupy themselves with on the shuttle. The survey they did was detailed and interesting, for example, the part that how many people say thank you when they get off kind of went in depth to a courtesy related issue. The overall presentation was good because they used the Pecha Kucha correctly and evvery member spoke clearly and loudly enough.
This group had a lot of information about the red loop bus and green loop bus. I liked how they explained which bus goes to the stadium and which one goes to the parking lot. I really did not catch the thesis of this presentation but I am guessing it was about how people act once their on the bus. I liked how this was developed but at times they went too fast and they ran out of things to say on slides. But overall this is a good presentation about shuttle buses.
This group did a really good job on providing information to those who could benefit the most from it regarding shuttles. I did not hear a thesis or a statement at the beginning but gathered that it was about the shuttles. I felt that some of the slides were a little too cluttered with text but too much is better than not enough. Also they did a good job of eye contact but still more would have been better. I saw them reading off the slides which is a no no but, not terrible. The survey was displayed nicely with regards to the results. The pictures fit the topic and were used wisely withing the presentation. Everyone spoke clearly and loudly enough to be heard.
This groups thesis was that people use the shuttle for many different reasons. The presentation was very easy to follow but the dialogue didn't go with the transition of the slides very well. They started off by giving some good background information on the shuttle. They also gave some good statistics on why people use the different type of shuttle. I was impressed with all the feedback they got from their survey
This group was trying to find out the different reasons people use the bus. They said at first they thought people only used it because they were too lazy to walk. They found many different reasons after doing their interviews and surveys. The pictures were very good. They kept the audience interested.
This group's presentation was about the actions and psychology of people who ride the shuttle buses. They started out with their observations. Most people, according to their observations, simply wait silently, talk on the phone, or text while they await for their transportation. I appreciated this group's pictures since I realize that it was time consuming to take pictures of the busses, which are very inconsistent with arriving on time. This group had over the allowed amount respond to their survey. According to the first 100, though, 77 people ride the green loop only. This is probably because many go to get their car at the stadium.
According to their observations, while people ride the bus, they listen to ipod, text, or sometimes even study before class. Fridays are also the busiest for busses. I thought that this group also was very easy to follow. They stated their thesis clearly and followed the requirements. I can not recall if the had a quote or not in the presentation.
I thought this group did an excellent job with their presentation. Their focus was detailed the different reasons people use the campus shuttle service and the ways different people act/interact on the shuttle which definitely came off as a valid thesis. I took their survey and found lots of questions that went well with their ideas. The results of their surveys teamed up well with the observations they made. They supported their argument with all of their research and I found their powerpoint to be conducive to making all the points clear and concise. They spoke clearly and urged the audience to understand their position. The photos and text went along with what they had to say in a mannerly format.
The thesis of this presentation was the different reasons that people ride the shuttle. Their survey results showed that people use the shuttle to get their cars, get to classes when running late, go across campus or when the weather is bad. I presentation was pretty well organized and easy to follow. They had a lot of information about the different loops the shuttles take. I thought they had a lot of good pictures for their slides.
I really appreciate someone mentioning that it was inconvenient to take pictures of the bus because of unknown arrival times. That was definitely true, along with yucky, rainy weather the week we had to take pictures. That is why some of our pictures were blurry. I also understand that our timing was off, we got a little confused as to who's turn it was because the pictures changed faster than we thought, so I ended up getting stuck with like 7 or 8 slides instead of 5 and didn't have enough planned to talk that long. So that was our bad. It was hard to find time as a group to get together out of class to practice. If we had more time, we would have done a better job with that. Thank you for the pleasant remarks and advice!
