Adam, Angelina, Cody, and Garrett are comparing...

...the ways that male and female undergraduates use the library. For example, they noticed that women seem to go to the library in groups, while men tend to go alone.

  1. This group talked about the library and how girls rae more sociable than guys and how guys and girls's study habits are different. Everyone did an observation and an interview. Angelina shouldn't have interrupted Garrett while he was still talking. It was rude. The survey was visual which was good and I was not sure what the thesis was exactly. There were no quotes used.

  2. 1. The thesis was that girls are more social than guys at the library.
    2. Their powerpoint was easy to follow and made sense because everyone took turns talking.
    3. The group developed their thesis by telling how girls came in the library with a group of people and most guys came in alone. Girls also talked more and greeted their friends by stopping to say hey and guys mainly just said hi as they walked by.
    4. The presenters did a good job with syntax and diction because their volume when they talked was loud enough to hear at the back of the classroom.
    5. They used the Pecha Kucha format by 20 slides at 20 seconds.
    6. They did a good job with statistics by telling about their survey and they said that 70% of girls and 30% of boys took this survey. People also talk electronics to the library and 68% spend one hour at the library.

  3. This group focused on how girls are more sociable in the library than boys. Each person talked about their own interviews which made this easy to follow. They provided good evidence in the form of observations and interviews and summed it all up fantastically with the charts on the powerpoint. They seemed to time their words well with the slides.

  4. I know there was over-lapping with majority of groups chosing the library, but this group extended that more chosing instead to focus on females and males behavior in the library. This was a very informative presentation, with good picture quality and information backed up by interviews, observations, and their survey. One thing that stood out was that some seemed to talk beyond their slides, which was a little confusing until I caught on. Overall, everyone in the group was loud enough to be heard, not much stuttering, and very informational charts were also included.

  5. Their thesis was that girls are more sociable than guys at Bracken Library. The speech was very loud and clear and they didn't have any awkward pauses like the other groups. The dialogue went well with the slide transitions. Very good statistics and info on why people go to the library and how long they go. The only thing i noticed with this group is that none of the pictures that were being displayed matched up with what they were talking about.

  6. This group had a very clear thesis, and I thought it was a bit more interesting than the other groups'. It was well developed throughout the presentation, and was supported with statistics and interviews. I liked that they made the presentation a bit funnier than the other groups while still presenting valid observations.

  7. I enjoyed listening to and watching your presentation. Your thesis was clearly stated and described how girls are more sociable than guys (these findings could also be viewed as part of a larger right-brain verses left-brain discussion that scientists often have) when at the Bracken Library. It was stated that all findings were obtained by observing the amount of time each sex spent talking to others and congregating.

The mood of your group was upbeat and this seemed to put the audience at ease. Speakers could be easily heard (although, chatter among those in the gallery did increase at times) and each person remained focused on their portion of the presentation. To the best of my knowledge, word usage was appropriate and everyone seemed to be prepared in advance to speak.

Your powerpoint was well-developed. All pictures were in focus, taken in adequate lighting, and presented in an organized fashion. You spoke about the people that you interviewed and effectively paraphased what some people had to say. I especially liked your pie charts because they clearly presented your findings and eliminated the need for the audience to do a lot of extra reading.

I can not think of any suggestions that I might have to improve your presentation.

  8. This group had a very well developed presentation. I liked how your thesis was stated right away that girls are more sociable than guys in the library. Each speaker spoke very clearly and were very easy to hear. They go their point across about each slide. The only down side about the presenters was that they cut each other off at points which is something that could be worked on. I thought your pie charts were a very good part to this presentation. They showed the information and statistics that the audience wanted to see. This was a very good presentation.

  9. The topic of this presentation was the Bracken Library. The thesis was clearly stated and there was a lot of facts to back up the main topic. This presentation gave the idea that girls are more sociable than guys at the Bracken Library. The group talked about their interview which was taken by 75 people. In the interview they asked how many people visit the library, how often students stay at the library, and how people greet each other. Some of the research stated that most of the people that go to bracken library greet each other by a "Whats Up". This group did a good job with all of the facts that they provided and deserve a good grade on the presentation.

  10. This group's topic was Bracken Library and how girls are more sociable and boys and girls study habits are different. Everyone in the group did their observation and an interview. I thought it was rude when Angelina interrupted Garrett while he was still talking, it wasn't very professional and took away from the overall presentation. The survey was visual was good, however I wasn't sure what the purpose of the survey was. T

  11. Listening to this group present was quite interesting. The thesis was clearly stated that girls were much more social than guys when it came to being at Bracken Library. The presentation was easy to follow and everyone seemed to have good knowledge about what they were speaking about.

The group supported its thesis by using their own observation and personal experiences at the library which i really think helped getting to the audience. The group members did a good job at pronouncing their words well and the words they were using were correct. The transitions through some some of the slides were rough but overall well done.

The Pecha Kucha format worked ok for this group compared to others. Some of the pictures of people studying looked stage. I felt like they were able to connect because a lot of us have used the library at some point this year for either studying or something else. Quotes weren't really a part of their presentation but statistics were. The words and slides looked fine, the picture quality was ok but they were somewhat boring.

  12. The thesis pf this project was that girls are more sociable then guys at the library. I think they took a great approach to their project. Some of the slides they did were not in sync with what they were talking about. Overall they included the statistics that helped prove their thesis. The words they chose and used were appropriate. Sentence structure was pretty good a few slurred words but everyone messes up so no worries. Some of the transitions had some pauses but overall was pretty good. I think that the pictures were great there was quite a variety. The Pecha Kucha was followed for the most part. I liked it they did a nice job.

  13. I enjoyed this presentation the most. They chose a very interesting thesis, saying that women were more social than men in the library. They were very organized and to the point. They did a nice job with the public speaking aspect of the presentation as well. They had everything that was needed in my eyes. The only thing I can think of to improve on would be eye contact. Very nice job.

  14. I feel like this presentation is about how girls are more sociable than guys. I did not see an argument but they had a great thesis and i do not member any quotes or interview parts but it was a brilliant subject to talk about how girls did more than guys did.

  15. The thesis was how women are sociable than guys. They did their study at the library. Many facts were presented to support their case. Many of them had observed that men were more likely to show up alone and that women showed up in groups more often. I liked the way they differed their interviews by interviewing the opposite sex. Also when it came to the power point an their survey, the slides did well. Not cluttered with pictures appropriate for their topic. I liked how they used pie charts which I don't think any other group used. Every spoke clearly and loudly. I felt that the entire presentation could have used polished but they did well regardless.

  16. This group was looking at the different ways male and female students use the library. They believed after their observations that females use the library as more of a social place. The interviews and observations seemed to back it up. They showed good examples in their pictures. The stats they used kept the audience interested. The graphs were easy to read.

  17. This group, instead of talking about the basic functions and uses of Bracken Library, compared the differences in actions between males and females. they noticed how girls come in groups while guys come in more by themselves. One way that girls act differently is that they talk more. Guys usually wear headphones, instead. Their results of their interviews supported their observations. They found a huge correlations. They argued that people visit the library mostly for group projects.

This group's survey showed that most people go to Bracken Library weekly. 68% of the interviewed go to the library for one hour. Their survey showed a difference between genders also. Women want to talk while men just give a head nod to one another. Overall I felt this presentation was another easy one to follow and was interesting that they studied the differences in genders. Good job all!

  18. This group talked about the library, but instead of only looking at the studying aspect they also focused on how it can be a social place. They used their survey statistics well, and they really backed up their thesis. I liked that they used charts to show the information instead of just telling us the numbers. It made it a lot more interesting to me. They seemed very organized and it was very easy to follow.

  19. They talked about how lone people stay in the library, how they greet each other, noise levels people rend to study at, and that a large majority of students stay on the first floor. They all talked for a reasonable amount of time which was a good thing. They had a great presentation with a powerepoint that was very put together.
